Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

1. Overview

Rephrase is designed with privacy in mind. We believe your voice recordings and transcripts are your data. This Privacy Policy explains how Rephrase handles your information.

2. Local Storage

We do not store your recordings or transcripts on our servers. All transcriptions are saved locally on your computer. Your data never leaves your device except when you explicitly use features that require an internet connection (e.g., voice transcription, Groq AI Composer).

3. Data Processed for Features

The following features require sending data to third-party services:

  • Voice transcription: Your audio is sent to a transcription service to convert speech to text. Please refer to that service's privacy policy for how they handle your data.
  • Groq AI Composer: When you use Composer, your text is sent to Groq for AI processing. Check Groq's privacy policy for their data practices.

4. Data We Collect

We may collect minimal, anonymous usage analytics (e.g., app version, crash reports) to improve the App. We do not collect personally identifiable information unless you contact us directly (e.g., for support).

5. Your Choices

You control your data. Transcripts are stored on your device. You can delete them at any time through the App or by removing local app data. You can change hotkeys and settings in the Settings section.

6. Security

Because your data stays on your device, you are responsible for securing your computer. We recommend using device encryption and strong passwords.

7. Children

Rephrase is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
